South of the Boarder Report - October, 2006

Thank you all so much for your warm and heartfelt e-mails in response to the loss of our baby. We really appreciate all the prayers and encouragement that you have given us!

It is raining and getting colder here. Can you believe it actually gets cold here? (About mid May in the sweltering heat, we were hoping for some of the rain that we are getting now.) We have different seasons here than in Tennessee. Here there is the dry season, the rainy season  and the hot season.

The kids returned to school in August much like in the states the only difference is that kids here don't get out for summer vacation until July 7th. We had a short 6 week vacation and now school is in full swing. We were able to assist all the kids in the Sponsor A Child program with school fees, and supplies as well as help several other children with school uniforms, fees and supplies. We were excited to assist the children at the Love in Action Children's Home attend school this year as well.

This fall we will be working on registering Shepherd's Heart in Mexico. This is an answer to many years of prayer. We have already selected the board members and all are excited and readily accepted the offer to be a part of the ministry. Our next step is ministry goals, by-laws and other misc. forms and fees. We hope to complete all this by the end of the year.  At which point we will be even closer to accomplishing the vision of establishing the Christian Community Outreach Center and Children's Home.

Many of you may remember that a children's home was a part of the original vision that God gave us when we first moved to Mexico. Over the years God has given us an opportunity to meet the needs of children living in families with limited resources and has giving us the opportunity to serve with Love in Action in their Children's home. Through these experiences God has revived this vision in our hearts and we are excited about the opportunity to show Christ's love and continue to raise a new generation for Christ here in Mexico.
